Pokémon Legends: Arceus sold 6.5 million copies in the first week
The game Pokémon Legends: Arceus was sold 6.5 million times in one week. Nintendo announced this on Friday via Twitter . The latest Pokémon game was released last Friday for the Nintendo Switch.
If the number of games sold continues to increase, then this is possible Pokémon Legends becoming one of the fastest selling Switch games ever. The game is Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl , which was released last year for the Switch, surpassed in terms of sales figures in the first week after release. The two previously released games sold six million copies in their first week.
However, it doesn't seem like that Pokémon Legends record holder Animal Cross: New Horizons will be dethroned. That game was released in March 2020 and sold 11.77 million copies within eleven days.
In Pokémon Legends: Arceus you play an aspiring explorer who tries to map all the monsters in the region, while also trying to capture them with the new invention Pokéball. You are sent on missions to specific areas, where you roam freely to find the right monsters.
Correction: The original article stated this Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl came out earlier this year. However, the games were released on November 19, 2021. The article has therefore been amended.
